Calcium Carbonate Plant Phase I - Theodore, Alabama (2020/2021)
$75 million plus project

Engineering services included design, fabrication drawings, development of construction drawings and specifications for the project. The project consisted of a process area phase 1, a packaging area, a control and MCC (Motor Control Center) room, a silo loading structure, conveyance supports, civil site work, and a new rail track system.
The process area structural design included structural steel supports, multilevel mezzanine equipment floor structure, with stairs and handrails to withstand the static live loads, dead loads, vibrating loads, dynamic loads, lateral loads, electrical equipment loads, piping loads, duct work loads, conveyance system loads, and storage hopper loads produced by the milling equipment in operation and a 10-ton service crane.
The process area foundation was a pile-supported foundation covering 44 feet by 199 feet.
The silo loading structural design included structural steel supports, mezzanine floor structure, stairs, and handrails to withstand the static live loads, dead loads, wind loads, snow loads, dust collector equipment loads, retractable loading spout loads, lateral loads, electrical equipment loads, piping loads, 2,000-pound hoist load, fall protection point loads, and conveyance loads to support 8 (eight) 200-ton 14-foot diameter steel silos.
The silo loading structure foundation was a combination of pile supported concrete cap/riding surface to accommodate CSX box car loaded rail, and truck loading drive through.
